During the weekend of February 23 to 25, representatives from the Ashcroft RCMP, Ashcroft Volunteer Fire Department, CP Police, and other local community members participated as part of the Ashcroft RCMP team and attended a Law Enforcement Charity Hockey Tournament in Merritt.

Ten teams from all over B.C., and from a number of law enforcement-based organizations such as corrections, conservation, Merritt RCMP, Prince George RCMP, and First Nations Police, participated in the event. All proceeds collected from the tournament were donated to the B.C Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The organizers of the event had a goal of raising $20,000. They exceeded this by raising just over $22,000.

Participants from the Ashcroft RCMP team enjoyed the event and are already looking forward to next year. The team would like to thank Susan Peters and Marina Papais for their large donations towards the event and the team. If any businesses would like to donate towards next year, or would like more information, please call Cst. Chris Buckland at the Ashcroft RCMP detachment at (250) 453-2216.
