On Thursday, June 29, Jim and Martina Duncan of the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society (WRAPS) were at Desert Sands Community School to present prizes to the winners of this year’s Canada 150 Poster contest. Mr. MacDonald’s Grade 5/6 students were given the opportunity to create a Canada Day poster in either a hand-drawn or digital version.

The winners were:

Hand-drawn poster: Robin Kennedy

Digital poster: Trinity Thomas

Honourable mention: Kheller Ouellette (whose poster was used for the WRAPS Canada Day ad in The Journal).

WRAPS is thankful that other community groups support them both financially and through hands-on assistance to host a Canada Day event for our communities. Special thanks go to Royal Canadian Legion Branch #113, the Ashcroft and District Lions Club, the Ashcroft/Cache Creek Rotary Club, Make Children First, and the Village of Ashcroft.
