January 19, 1936 to March 5, 2017

We, the children of Helen, are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother and dad’s wife and lifelong love after a brief period of illness and injury.

Mom married Robert (Bob) Corley on May 15, 1959 and the couple settled down in Loon Lake, BC. In 1963 their eldest daughter, Denise-Lynn was born.  Soon after that our young family moved to Cache Creek, BC where a second daughter, Jacqueline was born.  Mom and dad have enjoyed many years together since in their home and in the community.

We are left to mourn Mom: Denise-Lynn (Dennis) of Spruce Grove, AB and Jacquie (Raymond) of Ashcroft, BC. Nana will also be greatly missed by Chad McMahon and Amy Frey.

Extended family that mom loved as her own are Matthew and Linda, children James, Clara Rose and Emma; Jennifer; Melanie and Lloyd Johnson.  On the Frey side it is Clint and his boys George and EJ; and Andy.

Mom was born in Hazel Dell, Saskatchewan on January 19, 1936 to Yukim and Michalina Rudniski. She was the 7th of nine children.

Mom is predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary who died shortly after birth, her brothers Michael (Shirley), Joseph (Eileen), Frank (Maxine). Also predeceasing Mom were sisters Pauline (John), Anne (Kenneth) and sisters-in-law Shirley, brothers-in-law Walter and John.

Mom’s sisters Stella Federuik and Rose Bishko also feel the void from mom’s passing.

On dad’s side, mom is predeceased by Mary and Earl Corley; dad’s sisters Marie and Rosella; brothers Dave, Louie and Wilbert.

Dad’s family of Ivy (Nip), Ida (Bob), Ken, Harold (Gail), Eleanor, and Shirley (Malcolm) are helping dad get through this sorrowful time.

There are numerous nieces and nephews and their families on both sides that miss mom dearly.

Mom was the consummate volunteer. From the inception of the Cache Creek Recreation Commission to her involvement with the Royal Purple, she worked tirelessly to benefit the community. Majorettes, the community pool, swim meets and Canada Day celebrations are but a few of her many ventures.

Mom’s working life included being a Nurse’s Aide in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan as well as at the Lady Minto Hospital in Ashcroft. She was also instrumental in the opening and running of the Veterinary Clinic in Cache Creek. Mom was proudest of all to be dad’s partner in life and in business.  Really, any work that needed to be done would be taken care of with mom around.

There is no funeral planned at the moment. Interment will be at the Cache Creek cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and in our mom’s essence, we ask that you give your loved ones a hug as mom was notorious for her warm embracing hugs.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Ashcroft Health Centre, and the Ashcroft Medical Clinic. In addition, many thanks to Dr. Obu, Dr. Ackermann, Dr. G. Schumacher, Dr. Proctor, Dr. Lin, Dr. Varma, Dr. Picton, Dr. Pace-Ascpiak, the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, the Southern Interior Rotary Lodge, the staff at Majorie Willoughby-Snowden Hospice House, Royal Inland Hospital E.R. 2 West, 3 West, 5 North and Ashcroft Peoples Drug Mart for all their professionalism and care throughout mom’s journey.
