Artist Joyce Macpherson’s painting of “Sugar” the dog (centre) was voted their favourite by the school children who visited this year’s Fine Art Show & Sale.

The members of the Ashcroft Arts Club wish to express their appreciation for the support of their 44th Annual Art Show which was held in April.

Twenty-nine local artists displayed their painting and photography in the show and we experienced a phenomenal response from people of our surrounding area.  The adults attending awarded the People’s Choice award to Pauline Ogilvie for her painting, “High Country”, while Joyce Macpherson’s painting of the dog, “Sugar” was the favourite of the school children.

With the summer comes the Art Walk. During July and August our members will be displaying their paintings in the various businesses in Ashcroft. The outdoors also calls artists during the summer months, so we will be having several informal outdoor sessions to paint and photograph as well as painting time on our own.

Our regular get-togethers will resume on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10 am in St. Alban’s Church Hall, so mark it on your calendars. Acrylic painting with a video will be the art activity of the morning with the business meeting following at noon. See you then!
