Ashcroft girls' soccer sixth in province

After taking 3rd in the Okanagans in Revelstoke May 19-20, the Ashcroft girls soccer team headed to the provincials in Victoria June 2-4.

Sixteen teams from across the province, from public and private schools, competed against each other in the Class A Girls Provincial Soccer Championships. The girls played five games over three days.

The girls played one round robin in their pool and ended up second. The only loss in the round robin was a hard fought battle against South Ridge (South Surrey) the score 0-1, South Ridge was ranked second in the provincials overall.

In the playoffs, the girls won against Rossland Royals 2-1 and lost their last game in a shoot out to Saint John Brebeuf (Abbotsford) with a score of 1-2.The Ashcroft team ended up top team amongst public schools, and 6th overall in the province.

Marlie Rittinger received the Commissioners award for the Ashcroft team.
