Sniffer dog Zack and his handler Dave Lewis from the Kamloops RCMP Canine Division

The dinner which was held on March 1 and sponsored jointly by Rotary, the United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion was enjoyed by about 80 people.

The Sea Cadets looked very smart in their uniforms and did a great job of serving beverages and dessert and cleaning up  the dishes. Nadine Davenport provided musical entertainment and Joris Eckering and Andrea Bona did some skits which were very poignant.

The highlight of the evening was a demonstration of the sniffer dog Zack and his handler Dave Lewis from the Kamloops RCMP Canine Division. Dave described how dogs are used in the demining process and had Zack find some caches of drugs which he had placed around the room.

The object of the dinner was to raise both awareness of the issue and to raise funds for the training of dogs for use in demining. Both objectives were met and a substantial donation will be made to the Canadian Landmine Foundation for use in training demining dogs.

Thanks to all the volunteers from all three groups for a job well done.

Thanks also to the Legion for providing the venue. Thanks  especially to all of the donors who gave generously and made the night a success.
