Ashcroft and District Lions Club celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 5.

The Ashcroft and District Lions Club celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 5 at Chris’ Under the Bridge.

Lions came from Washington State, Kamloops, Lillooet and Vancouver. to observe this occasion. The guest of honour was Jack Kirkpatrick, one of the 28 charter members from 1951.

Guest speakers included Mayor Andy Anderson who reminisced about visiting Jack’s store when he was young. Mayor John Ranta congratulated the Lions on the many projects they have had over the years and thanked them for their contributions to the community.

District Governor Joe Nilles from Washington also congratulated the Lions on their 60 years of service and listed many  projects the Lions have fundraised for such as the Jaws of Life, the new chairs at the Cache Creek Community Hall, donations to Thompson View Manor Society and helping local families in need.

The Lions are looking forward to another 60 years of service.
