Qualifying customers can receive a free energy-saving kit from BC Hydro.

If theor household income falls within a certain range, British Columbians can get a free energy-saving kit delivered right to their door. Energy-saving kits can help make homes more comfortable and energy-efficient all year.

Each kit includes simple, energy-saving products that people can install themselves. The products will help seal up drafts in the home, save on lighting costs, and reduce a home’s water use.

Each kit contains LED bulbs; weatherstripping to reduce drafts around windows and doors; a high-efficiency showerhead; water-saving tap aerators; an LED night light; fridge and freezer thermometers; and a step-by-step instriction guide to help people install each product. Each kit can be customized based on the applicant’s specific needs.

To apply, first check the BC Hydro income qualification table (http://bit.ly/2U3TKrY) to see if you are eligible for the kit. If you are, you can apply for a free energy-saving kit online (http://bit.ly/2NriwQk) or by calling 1-800-BCHYDRO (toll-free at 1-800-224-9376 between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday).

When you apply, you’ll be asked to provide your name and BC Hydro account number, the number of people in your household, and your total household income. Do you rent your home? You can apply if the BC Hydro account is in your name.
