Get a team together and hit the lanes to help Big Brothers Big Sisters to help children in our region.

When was the last time you went bowling? Between March 2 and March 6 you can lace up at two Kamloops bowling alleys and take part in the 40th annual Bowl For Kids Sake fundraiser, sponsored by the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Kamloops and Region.

Themed events will take place at Bowlertime on the North Shore and Falcon Lanes in Valleyview, and people are encouraged to get a team of up to six people together and enjoy some time on the lanes while helping children in our region. Pledge forms can be picked up at the BBBS office in Kamloops, or participants can fundraise online (go to http://bit.ly/2m14IxD for details).

For a minimum donation of $50 per bowler, participants can choose from a number of themed events, starting with a Canadian-themed “Thirsty Thursday” at Bowlertime on March 2. Wear your favourite plaid shirt, touque, or hockey jersey: anything that reminds you of Canada. This is an adults-only event, with lanes available at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

On March 3 it’s “80s/90s Night” at Falcon Lanes, so break out your best throwback fashions. March 4 is “Western Night”, also at Falcon Lanes, so wear a cowboy hat and mosey on down. Both these events have lanes open at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

There are two events at Bowlertime on March 5. The day kicks off with a “PJ Breakfast Bowl” at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Onesies and pyjamas are welcome, and a light breakfast will be available at both events. At 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. there is a “Canada 150 Industry Night”, which is geared towards those working in the hospitality industry (however, all are welcome to register).

Bowl For Kids Sake concludes on March 6, with a “Superhero Bowl” at Bowlertime at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Don’t forget your cape.

This fundraiser is a vital source of income for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops and Region, and the organization hopes to raise $80,000 to support their work.
