Gold Trail’s Grade 6/7 students gathered at Historic Hat Creek Ranch on June 8 for the Annual Celebrate Our Success Event.
The day began with a welcome and opening prayer by Bonaparte elder Roger Porter. Students then participated in gold panning, Lahal and Lacrosse games, as well as tours of the Aboriginal Interpretive Site.
In preparation for the event, each class created a four-panel mural depicting the type of trading that occurred in their local community throughout the seasons. The day culminated in an exchange of the murals between the schools in the spirit of trading.
We wish to extend our thanks to local artist Jo Petty who guided the process of creating these pieces of artwork with students at each of the schools.
