Is running on your bucket list?

If so, then Vicky Trill has just the group for you, no matter what your fitness level or goal.

Vicky Trill

Do you have a “bucket list”? You know, that list of things you’d like to do before you say goodbye to the Earth? I’ve got a bucket list in my mind, with items on it like write a book; visit Australia; and swim a marathon.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, it’s always good to have dreams and goals. Four weeks ago a group of local athletes joined the Desert Hills Triathlon Club for their “Learn to Run” (L2R) program. Almost 20 people aged 16 to 65 have been improving their health, fitness, and running. Every Saturday the group gets together to run/walk, and during the week everyone follows their own run/walk program.

There are two groups: one working to complete a five kilometre run, the other to complete a 10km  run. Both groups follow an interval program which includes walking and running.

For some this will be the first time they’ve completed an endurance run of this length, while others will complete distances that are a little better than they have done before. Everyone will enjoy moving and improving together.

At the end of April, many people from our area will participate in the Kamloops “Boogie on the Bridge” event, and celebrate in their finishing victories.

Have you got “Learn to Run” on your bucket list? It’s not too late to join. In May we will begin again, and work towards being ready for Skip’s Run in Ashcroft. Join us and cross that item off your list!
