The eighth annual Skip’s Charity Run, sponsored by the Ashcroft and District Lions Club, will take place in Ashcroft on Sunday, June 3, and all are welcome to run, walk, roll, or bike one of the three courses (2.5lm, 5km, and 10km).

The run honours Skip Stuart, a long-time member of the Lions Club. “Skip was a really hard-working Lion,” says current club treasurer Vivian Edwards. “He did so much for the club and so much for the community. He was always there, willing to work.”

A new feature is the opportunity for participants—individually or as a group or organization—to challenge others to obtain the most pledges. Those who get the most pledges will win a prize, as will the winners in each distance and age group.

This year’s route is the same as last year’s, with participants starting at the HUB and running to and along Evans Road, which will be closed to traffic for the run.

The money raised by Skip’s Run goes to benefit local organizations and charities, including the annual Christmas Hamper campaign, a particular favourite of Stuart’s.

Pledge sheets and registration forms can be obtained at the HUB, and participants can register online at http://bit.ly/2IzLOgh. Race packages can be picked up at the HUB on June 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. and on June 3 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The run starts at 8:45 a.m.

For more information, call Vivian Edwards at (250) 453-9077 or Nick Lebedoff at (250) 453-2664. You can also contact the HUB at (250) 453-9177, email ashcrofthub@gmail.com, or visit the HUB office.
