Lions present cheque to local food bank

Donation will help with the purchase of perishable foods.

The Ashcroft and District Lions Club presented a cheque for $1,000 to the food bank operated by the South Cariboo Elizabeth Fry Society (SCEFS) last week.

Yoriko Susanj, executive director of SCEFS, thanked the Lions, saying that the funds will really help out, especially with the food bank having recently purchased a large fridge/freezer unit via a grant from Food Banks Canada and the Walmart Foundation.

“We couldn’t do without the Lions. It’s a community effort. This will help out with our perishable food budget.”
