March offers a fresh start

March is National Nutrition Month. Making healthy food choices and eating well every day can help you improve your overall health or better manage existing conditions like heart disease or diabetes. Eat well and live well and live longer.March is a significant month for other reasons too. Daylight Savings Time begins March 13 and the first day of Spring is March 20.International Women’s Day is celebrated March 8. To mark the occasion an event will be held in Walhachin, Saturday, March 5 at noon in the Soldiers Memorial Hall called Creative Women: A Celebration of International Women’s Day. It’s a chance for all ladies to spotlight their creativity. There’ll be free food and entertainment. To book a space telephone Val Carey at 250-457-6678. There is a $20 refundable deposit.For all those Irish, or Irish at heart, St. Patrick’s Day is March 17.  According to Adrienne Cook, “St. Patrick’s Day is an enchanted time - a day to begin transforming winter’s dreams into summer’s magic.”But the day in March on every Clinton Seniors Association member’s mind is the Daffodil Tea on March 16. It will be from 1:30-3:30 pm in the Clinton Memorial Hall. $5 for delicious strawberry shortcake and an opportunity to buy fresh daffodils and plants and home baking and more. The school, office workers, businesses and shut-ins may pre-order for delivery by calling Helene at 459-2469 or the Clinton Memorial Hall at 459-2254 for delivery from 1 pm on.Don’t miss this day for an early glimpse of Spring. Part of the proceeds are forwarded to the Canadian Cancer Society.Cards and Games go on every Friday as usual in the Seniors Centre - 217 Smith Ave. at 1 pm.Next General Meeting is March 17 following noon lunch at the Seniors Centre. Come and join us! There are only three fund-raising events each year beginning with the Daffodil Tea in March.
