New Ashcroft council reporter Jordan Johnston.

Former Ashcroft council reporter Andrew May has had to leave the position due to health issues. In his place The Journal welcomes Clinton resident Jordan Johnston.

Hi there Ashcroft! My name is Jordan Johnston, and I’m extremely excited to be covering your municipal politics beat.

I have been creatively writing since I was about seven years old, and I’d like to think my skills have vastly improved since then (maybe not my illustrating, though). I turned my attention to more technical writing after high school, and when I was 20 I attended the Journalism Arts program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, receiving my diploma with honours.

Upon graduation, I got a job at The Mountaineer as a staff reporter in my hometown of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. I had the opportunity to cover a wide variety of topics, from sports and court to council and different events. In 2017 I moved to Vancouver to expand my horizons. Although I did not find a job as a writer, I did enjoy my time there.

I have now settled down in Clinton, enjoying the quaint size of the town, the quiet of the countryside, and the breathtaking mountain views.
