EARLY LEARNING ROCKS: Students from the Ashcroft Early Learning program pose with their painted rocks.

Andrea Walker

The excitement of the young children from the Ashcroft Early Learning program was infectious. With big smiles, and painted rocks in hand, the little ones were ready to place the rocks they had so lovingly painted in front of the blue haul truck south of the Heritage Park on Railway.

Getting these little ones organized is like herding cats, but instructors Carolyn Paulos and Tanya Sabyan had things firmly in hand, and the rock placing was performed by the students and some grown-up helpers with much enthusiasm.

This is the sixth year in a row that the Early Learners have teamed up with Ashcroft Communities in Bloom to do their part to beautify our village. In past years, the students have placed their painted rocks at the post office, the library, and the tourist information booth, leaving a lovely display and a legacy. We are told that former students still proudly point out the rocks they painted several years ago.

If you are visiting the south end of Railway Avenue, stop and have a look at the lovely display the children have left.
