The Cache Creek Pool is set to open on the long weekend of Saturday, May 20, and pool staff are planning a wide variety of swim lessons and activities all summer long. We are pleased to have been able to hire a positive and skilled lifeguard team again this year, with every member from the local area.

Pool schedules and swim lesson schedules for July and August, as well as registration forms, are available to print from the village website at http://www.village.cachecreek.bc.ca/; they can also be picked up from the village office. Registration for swim lessons in July and August begins Tuesday, May 23 at 3:30 p.m. at the pool.

The Cache Creek pool is open every day all summer, from the May long weekend through Labour Day weekend. Programs include Red Cross Water Safety swim lessons and Lifesaving Society training courses, including Junior Lifesaving, Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, and Bronze Cross. A Standard First Aid recertification course will take place on Saturday, May 27, and an NLS recertification course will be offered in late August.

Aquafit will begin on Wednesday, May 24 and will continue all season. Synchronized swim lessons are offered in July and August in affiliation with Synchro Canada. Noon laps, adult swims, morning and evening aquafit, and youth night on Friday night are just some of the activities going on at the Cache Creek pool.

The community favourite “Twisted Tuesday” games and events every Tuesday evening, as well as the “Ice Cream Swim” on Friday afternoons during public swim times, will also continue this year, as will youth night on Fridays. Lesson fees have not gone up this year.

Although swimming is, for many people, a favourite summer activity, one of the main purposes of swim lessons and many pool activities is water safety and drowning prevention. Please be careful around water, and never underestimate the power of water. At this time of year, when many head out to campsites near rivers and lakes, take time to consider water safety.

See you at the pool!
