Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta (centre) and councillors Darrell Rawcliffe and Herb Hofer accept a donation from the Second Time Around store in Ashcroft.

Spring is coming, and benches are sprouting up around Cache Creek, thanks to a large donation from the Second Time Around store in Ashcroft.

Manager Valerie Martin explained, in a letter to Cache Creek Council, that Second Time Around is a second hand store run by volunteers and donations to raise money for local non profit groups. “All money raised goes to local groups but no everyone belongs to a group so those people are not getting the benefit of the store.”

The store donated $3,500 to Cache Creek for benches, including one on Collins Rd. They made a similar donation recently to the Village of Ashcroft.

“I think it’s very gracious of Second Time Around to make this donation to the Village,” said Mayor John Ranta at the Feb. 13 Council meeting.

Administrator Leslie Lloyd advised Council that she had just received a quote from the suppliers of the benches in the “Gateway Park” at the intersection, and the donation would cover the purchase of two benches. One will be placed on Collins Rd., at the store’s request. The other will be placed at the discretion of the Village.
