Time to start planning entries for the Fair

The Ashcroft Fall Fair Committee has been hard at work to organize for this year’s Fair: President Jessica Clement; vice president Janna Kinvig; secretary Patty Kinvig; treasurer Andrea Bona; and Directors Jim Duncan, Lynn Lancaster, Crystal Roberts, Marijke Stott and Phil Towerzey.

Now is the time to review all those recipes you used at Christmas to create delicious cookies, candies and squares, and decide which you could use in your Fall Fair baking entries, and to store these recipes together for quick access. What about all those craft ideas that you really would like to try? Perhaps during this winter and early spring you may be able to make the necessary time.

Although people often attend the Fall Fair for the entertainment and displays, many also come to see what talents their friends and neighbours possess. Wouldn’t it be tremendous if each family in our area contributed at least one Fair entry to showcase their interests or abilities? What a way to learn about our neighbours!

The theme for this year’s Fair is “Farm to Fork”. With this theme in mind you can begin thinking about food products or other items that you produce, or crafts that you can create for the Fair. Think about being a vendor or demonstrating a hobby related to this theme.

Perhaps you would like to purchase an Ashcroft Fall Fair membership to allow you input into committee decisions or to receive copies of meeting minutes. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to help out in any of these ways. Our e-mail address is ashcroftfallfair@gmail.com. The President can also be reached at 250-453-2352.

This year’s Fair is Sunday, Sept. 11.
