There are multiple ways to vote in this year's provincial election, and numerous opportunities to cast your ballot.

The writs have been issued for British Columbia’s 43rd Provincial General Election, and final voting day will be on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024.

“Eligible voters can vote from now until polls close on final voting day,” says Chief Electoral Officer Anton Boegman. “B.C. has the most accessible voting system in Canada. Voters can cast their ballot at any district electoral office, at advance voting, by mail, or on Final Voting Day, and I encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballot and participate in British Columbia’s democracy.”

Changes to riding boundaries mean that Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, Walhachin, Savona, Cherry Creek, and Tobiano residents will be voting in the Cariboo-Chilcotin riding. Residents of Venables Valley, Logan Lake, Spences Bridge, and Lytton will be voting in the Fraser-Nicola riding.

Voting is available now at any district electoral office, and Elections BC has opened offices in every electoral district in the province. In Cariboo-Chilcotin, the district electoral office is located at 510 Broadway Avenue N. in Williams Lake, while in Fraser-Nicola the district electoral office is located at 2975 Clapperton Avenue in Merritt. The offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Advance voting will be available from Oct. 10 to 16, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day, with dates varying by location. All advance voting locations are wheelchair accessible. Voters in Cariboo-Chilcotin can vote in advance at the Cache Creek Community Hall (Oct. 10 and 11), while voters in Fraser-Nicola can vote in advance at the Lytton Parish Hall on Oct. 10 and 11.

Voting by mail is an option for all eligible voters, and is a great option for voters who will be away from the province during advance voting and on Final Voting Day. Voters can request a vote-by-mail package online at votebymail.elections.bc.ca, by phone at 1-800-661-8683, or in person at any district electoral office. The completed package must be received by Elections BC before 8 p.m. (Pacific time) on Final Voting Day, Oct. 19. See the “Vote By Mail” page on the Elections BC website for more information.

The last opportunity to vote will be on Final Voting Day (Saturday, Oct. 19). All voting places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Pacific time) and will be wheelchair accessible. There will be voting places in Cherry Creek, Savona, Skeetchestn, Walhachin, Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, and 70 Mile (Cariboo-Chilcotin) and in Logan Lake, Spences Bridge, Lytton, and Shackan (Fraser-Nicola). Online and telephone voter registration closes at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific time) on Monday, Oct. 7. Voters can still register or update their information when they vote, but voting may take a bit longer.

Whatever voting opportunity you choose, all voters must prove their identity and residential address to receive a ballot. A complete list of acceptable identification is available on the Elections BC website.
