Ashcroft RCMP responded to 17 calls for service during the period January 20 to 26.

Truck collision

In the early hours of January 26, a transport truck hauling a trailer collided with another transport truck hauling a trailer with a mobile home on it. Pilot cars were being used for the transport of the mobile home, as it was a wide load. No injuries were reported, and both trucks were drivable from the scene. An investigation is ongoing.

Semi-tractor collision

On January 24, two semi-tractor trucks collided on Highway 1 near the Basque Ranch. As a result of the collision, one of the drivers was not able to exit his vehicle without the assistance of the Ashcroft Fire Department using the “jaws of life” to pop the door open. No injuries were reported by either driver.

Other calls

Other calls for service between January 20 and 26 included calls for traffic-related offences that were observed by other drivers, assistance provided by the police to persons under the Mental Health Act, Uttering Threats, and reports of suspicious persons or activities.
