Cache Creek Activities Coordinator Marcie Down, whose dramatic video of the floodwaters raging around her house has gone viral, said of the event, “It’s been devastating, but the community spirit has been amazing, seeing everyone connect. The number of people volunteering and willing to help has been phenomenal. They’ve come from all over, from Clinton and Ashcroft and Kamloops: just regular citizens.”
Many of the Kamloops volunteers came out in response to the Cache Creek Beautification Society’s Facebook request.
“There are a lot of emotions around Cache Creek right now,” said Down. “We all love this community. We’re resilient, and will get through this.”
