Ashcroft’s new garbage truck is here, but it’s taking some time to get the truck and garbage cans just right.
When the truck arrived, said Ashcroft administrator Michelle Allen, there were some minor repairs needed that have since been addressed by the company: such as moving the door controls, fixing one of the four video cameras, and adjusting the arm that lifts the garbage cans.
Now the town is waiting for the proper garbage cans to be sent. Until that is taken care of, the Village will just hold onto the $168,725 cheque which the company has invoiced them for.
Allen says the unpaid bill will make sure the garbage can replacement remains a priority with the company.
It will be Spring before the new garbage truck and pickup system is up and running.
