He then moved north to the Peace Country to work at the Bennet Dam. He bought a quarter section of land in Fellers Heights outside of Dawson Creek BC. Retiring from ranching in 2001, Roy and Beth moved to 16 mile, just outside of Cache Creek BC. He finally got to buy the sailboat that he always wanted. Roy went to be with the Lord on February 24th 2008 after a two and a half year battle with cancer. A service was held in Cache Creek Pentecostal church on February 29th 2008 and his body was laid to rest in Ashcroft cemetery by the Thompson River.
