Alfred James Whynacht, June 28, 1929 to March 10, 2010

It is with great regret that we announce the passing of our beloved Father and Grandfather Alfred James Whynacht.

Predeceased by his wife Barbara and his daughter Linda, Alfred is survived by his son Carl (Teri) Whynacht; his grandchildren Tanya (Mike) Sabyan; Leigha, Lindsey, Dalton, Joey and Mardee Whynacht; his great grandchildren Cheyenne and Colten Sabyan and Callah Dougherty. He also leaves behind a renewed relationship with his daughter JoAnne and will be remembered by many other friends and family members extending as far as Nova Scotia.

Alfred was very proud of his service with the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for many years. Alfred was always present for the Battle of Atlantic Commemorative Parades and was a recognized presence at the Remembrance Day Services at our local schools.

He could often be found giving the girls at the post office a hard time and he will be dearly missed for his sense of humour, his straightforward attitude, his bird whistles and the mysterious cat that always seemed to follow him.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at the Ashcroft Health Site for the excellent care given to Alfred during his stay, and to our many friends and extended family members for their care and concern.

There will be no funeral by request. Arrangements entrusted to Thompson Valley Funeral Home. 250-453-9802.
