In Loving Memory ~
Derwent Dixon, age 85 years had been a resident of Cache Creek since June 1971.
From 1971 until 76 he worked as a mechanic at the Chevron station. 1976 to 85 saw him delivering propane for Cigas in an area covering South as far as Spuzzum, North to Green Lake, Cherry Creek in the East and Bralorne to the West.
In 1985 he went on his own truck hauling for a variety of different companies until 1998 when he started driving snow plow and sand trucks for highways in the winter and delivering for Desert Hills in the summer until he retired in 2002.
Unfortunately he was diagnosed with throat cancer at the end of February this year. He was able to remain at home, largely with support from Tracey Lefebvre and home support workers he mostly spoke well of until August 31 when he was admitted to the hospice unit of Overlander hospital in Kamloops where he said the staff were great and were looking after him.
He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September 20. Thankfully he was never in a serious level of pain. He was a private man and had no desire for any type of memorial service so none will be held.
Those who knew him are asked to take a moment and remember him in their own way.
He was predeceased by his wife Angela in January 1983 and is survived by his only son Spencer who now lives in Vancouver.
Derwent was a good man and will be missed.
