Eliana Olga Salinas

Born in Antofagasta, Chile, on March 16, 1927. Passed away peacefully on July 12, 2010, in the Ashcroft Hospital Extended Care Unit. She was predeceased by her husband Carols (2006), and her brother-in-law and sister, Tom and Nena Liss.

Carlos and Eliana immigrated to Canada in 1973, and made their home in Ashcroft. They enjoyed friendship and good times with family and co-workers at Bethlehem Copper, and after Carlos’s retirement they pursued their hobbies and visited friends in southern B.C. Eliana loved to sew and do needlework, and she created wonderful pieces of fine handwork that are now her legacies to the friends she treasured.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Ashcroft Extended Care on July 25. A funeral mass was celebrated at St. Gerard Catholic Church by Father Arsenio Balmaceda Jr. on July 29, followed by a graveside blessing and placing of her ashes beside those of Carlos. A huge Thank You to her wonderful caregivers at Garden Oasis and Sagebrush Lane in the Ashcroft Extended Care Unit for looking after her during the past year, and to Bill Perry, Thompson Valley Funeral Home, Ashcroft, for looking after all funeral arrangements.
