ELLIOTT Ethel Agnes
March 25, 1921 - August 14, 2008
The family of Ethel Elliott regret to announce the passing of their dear mother and grandmother on August 14, 2008 at Royal Inland Hospital at the age of 87. She is survived by her children Ron (Carylon), Lance (Shelley), Murray (Trish), Carol (Gene), Gayle, Bill (Christine), daughter-in-law Theda (Bob), 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, brother Don and sister Elizabeth. Ethel is predeceased by her husband Edward, son Richard and granddaughter Rene. Ethel was born in Stoughton,
Saskatchewan to Joseph and Hilda Fowlie. Four years later, while living in Detroit, Michigan, her brother Don was born. The family returned to Saskatchewan where Ethel continued to grow up and welcomed a sister Elizabeth. She married Edward Elliott on October 8, 1940 in Melfort Saskatchewan. They raised seven children and lived throughout Saskatchewan and B.C. Ed and Ethel were married for 67 years and enjoyed many family get togethers to celebrate their milestone birthdays and anniversaries. After Ed’s passing in 2006 Ethel continued to live in Bedford Manor in Kamloops where she enjoyed the music of the local entertainers. She loved being surrounded by family and although she was a quiet person she enjoyed telling stories from the past and having a good laugh over some of the mishaps in the kitchen. Ethel was known for her homemade quilts and everyone in the family enjoys the warmth of her blankets around them. She will be missed but we can always wrap ourselves in a “Grandma Elliott” quilt. A celebration of Ethel’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13 at 11:00 am at the Cache Creek Community Hall. Funeral arrangements are entrusted by Thompson Valley Funeral Home, Ashcroft, B.C.
