Helen Marlene Akselsen, was born in Morden, Manitoba in 1947. Helen passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Ashcroft Hospice at 69 years old. She will be sadly missed by her children David Breeschooten of Strathmore, AB and Kathy Lenehan of Yarrow, BC, grandchildren Dylin & Keira Breeschooten and Jon Lenehan. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Koos) Mensies of Abbotsford, her friend and partner Jill Stainsby of Lillooet, her step sister Louise, and her step sister-in-law Dorothy of Morden, Man. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Margaret Giesbrecht, her step mother Jessie Giesbrecht, her sister Evelyn Giesbrecht, and step brother Larry. Helen worked for many years as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Lytton and the surrounding area, spending her last decade in nursing providing respite care to patients in Spences Bridge. Following this she became a foster parent for children in this area. She was fond of her orchard, garden and chickens. She moved to Ashcroft a year ago and was very active in the community. She was a member of Zion United Church, routinely helping with the weekly “Soup’s on” community outreach program. She also participated in the community garden project, the walking group, and, being outdoorsy, enjoyed hiking locally.

at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
