It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Herb Hofer on Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Herb immigrated to Canada from Austria in 1963 and settled in Cache Creek where he met and married his wife of 51 years, Gisela. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Gisela, his sister Christine, sister-in-law Elfriede and brother-in-law Hans. Nieces Patricia, Christine (Jared/Camaro & Darci/Jason) and Susie (Chris & family), nephews Norman (Donna, Michelle & Christopher/Chelsey), John (Garby & family) and Robert (& family) and all great grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Matthias and Johanna and by his son, Michael.

Herb was a very private man, but was active in his community. He served on the hospital board, area directory for the TNRD and was currently a councilor for the Village of Cache Creek.

He enjoyed sport and was an excellent skier, curler, fisherman and his greatest passion was golf. Herb could be found on the local golf course any day of the week with his favourite golfing “buddies.”

The family would like to thank the staff at RIH and the staff at the Kamloops Hospice Society for their support, care and compassion. At his request there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated in his memory.
