Jack (Jaques) Samson CONKLIN

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Samson Conklin.


He passed away suddenly at his home in Barriere, January 26, 2004.


Jack is survived by his wife Bernice and his first wife Shirley.


Jack was predeceased by his son Danny and granddaughter Shelley.


Jack is also survived by his daughters Laurie (Vic) Orr, Cindy (Wyatt) McMurray, Linda (Bob) Nigel, Rosealee (Jeff) Dilley, Brenda (Art) Oakes and son Kenneth (Marjorie) Oakes; his grandchildren: Shawn, DJ, Noelle, Ambre, Christy, Jonathon, Doug, Donnie, Tina, Sherrie, Tanya, Deanna, Lisa, Jodie, Jason, Jessie, Justyn, and Joseph; his 15 great grandchildren; his siblings Dave, Hazel, Gail, William (Deloris), Margaret (Fred), Ruth (Jim), Don (Brenda); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.


His siblings Laurine, Edith, Orvil, Ernis and Ellen also predeceased him.


Jack was born in McLennan, Alberta on June 27, 1932 to Hairis and Maud Conklin. Jack and his family moved to Vancouver in his teen years.


In the 1950’s Jack moved to the McLean’s Lake area to log, then returned to the Vancouver area for a few years. In the mid 1960’s Jack moved to Highland Valley in the Ashcroft area where he remained until 1979.


He moved to Hinton, Alberta and in 1986 he retired to Barriere, BC.
