He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Gerda, their two children Jackie (Tim) and Stephan (Christy) and four grandchildren Darion, Hanna, Wolfgang and Logan. He also leaves his sister Christel (Matthais) Scheel of Germany. Joe was born in Berlin, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He worked on the railroad for one year before moving to Ashcroft and living in the old Central Hotel. Once in Ashcroft Joe began is career in construction/contracting, and built many homes in the Ashcroft/Cache Creek area. He also built the Pentecostal Church in Cache Creek, the Catholic Church in Ashcroft, the Airport in Kamloops, the Round Lake Treatment Center near Vernon and many more. Joe was a great contractor and a great ice fishermen. He loved fishing, boating, the ocean and nice cars. In your travels you may have witnessed Joe at the end of the slough road or at Barnes Lake smoking his pipe and contemplating life. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
