Jun 3, 1923 - Nov 12, 2017
John Warkentin, longtime resident of Jackson House Extended Care passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 12, 2017.

John is survived by his brother Peter (Donna) and various nieces and nephews in Ontario.

He was predeceased by his wife Lucina in 1989.

John was born June 3, 1923, in German-occupied Eastern Europe. His family immigrated to Canada in the late 1920's.

John joined the army in 1943 and served his time in Halifax. He was discharged in 1946. In 1950 he went to work at Toronto General Hospital in the laundry department. There he met Lucina, his wife of over 30 years. Eventually, they moved to Ashcroft where John was employed at Highland Valley Copper until he retired in 1980.

John was a member of the United Church Choir. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 40 plus years. He enjoyed playing crib, playing the harmonica, singing and traveling.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Jackson House for the care they provided.

He will be greatly missed by the Franks family, his "adoptive family".

Donations can be made in John's name to the Ashcroft Royal Canadian Legion Branch #113.

At John's request, no formal services will be held.
