Paulos,

Maximino (Max) Dos Anjos

Maximino (Max) Dos Anjos Paulos was born September 21, 1937 in Grijo, Portugal and passed away at home June 15, surrounded by his family. Max is survived by his wife Esmeralda, his children Moses (Kathy), Joe (Leona), Gus (Tami) Victor (Caroline), and grandchildren: Erica, Tereza, Shanna, Breana, Danika, Monika, Alexandria, Noah, and Spencer, his brother Manuel (Jusfina) ½ sister Maria- Eugenia (Olimpio) sisters-in-law Julianna and Maria, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and Portugal. He is predeceased by his parents, Jose and Adelia, granddaughter Sydney, sister Maria, and brothers Jose and Serafim.

Maxs’ early years were spent in the hills tending to the sheep, and getting into a little trouble with his siblings. He spent time in the army and then in 1960 he married Esmeralda, a pretty girl from a neighboring town. In 1970 Max and Esmeralda along with their young family immigrated to Spences’ Bridge, and Max began working for CN Rail. In 1994 they relocated to Ashcroft to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Max was passionate about gardening and spent many hours nurturing his grapes and pruning his trees as well as helping others with their pruning. Max enjoyed having his family around, and his home was the scene of many family meals and celebrations. He loved to stop and chat with everyone he encountered and his smile and stories will be missed by all who knew him.

The Paulos family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support, and Diane and Juanita for the excellent care they gave to Max.

Prayer Services for Max will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in Ashcroft. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 23, 2017 from St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Gerard’s Catholic Church or to the BC Cancer Foundation.
