February 27, 2009

HILL, Mike Sr.

Mike Hill Sr. was born April 21st, 1949 to Rose (O’Neil) and William Hill and passed away peacefully at the Kamloops General Hospital February 27, 2009 with his Daughter by his side. He left behind his wife Edith Frye, Daughter Rosemarie Oppenheim-Hill (Kurt) Son, Mike Hill Jr (Kerri), surviving grandchildren Azurite, Liam, Kealani and Jaired. Mike Hill was known by many and loved by all, he had many adventures in life and even though his life was cut short and he was a workaholic, he still found time to take his children on many memorable trips such as Venezuela, Barbados and trips through the States and across Canada. Some of the most special times were spend sport fishing with his kids, nephew and brother in-laws, many laughs and stories were shared down by the river. Mike loved to go camping with his family and instilled the love of the outdoors in his children. Mike and Edith moved their family around across Canada so they wouldn’t be too far away from him as he had to be away for work, the family lived in McBride, BC, Hope, BC, Iqaluit, NU and Spences Bridge, BC, where they finally settled. Mike worked in many places in BC over the years and for many companies such as CN rail, but in his final years he spent most of his time working at Restaurants in Spences Bridge, Cache Creek and Sicamous. Mike was a great cook as those who ate at the restaurants he worked for can agree. Mike will be missed and will never be forgotten. A celebration of his life was held in Spences Bridge, BC at the Spences Bridge Community Hall on Saturday, March 21st, 2009. Thank-you to all who came out to support our family through the loss of our Dad.

I encourage everyone out there to spend time with your family while you have them and don’t take your health for granted, life is short and can be over before you realize it.
