Richard “Dick” J. Richards

1929 – 2008


Richard “Dick” J. Richards passed away in Kamloops in his home August 25, 2008 at the age of 79. He is survived by his three daughters, Donna (Kirk) of Oliver, Sharon and Tracey of Kamloops, four grandchildren Dean and Janet of Kamloops, Brenda (Carl) of Langley, Lorrie of Penticton and three great granddaughters. Dick was predeceased by his loving wife Jean in 1996 and daughter Janet in 1962. Dick was born and spent 65 years of his life in Ashcroft. He retired after working 35 years in the Ashcroft Post Office, he then went to work for the BC Ambulance until he was forced to quit because of his eyesight. Dick always had time to sit down and reminisce about the good old days. He had the gift of the gab and always willing to share it. We will always remember his favorite saying “Whatever”. In his later years he developed a passion for his pet dogs, always having one or two at his side to keep him company. Dick will be sadly missed by family and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 501 Brink Street, Ashcroft with Reverend Dan Hines officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA, 1211 – 8th Street, Kamloops, BC V2B 2Y3 in memory of Dick would be appreciated.
