SHEPPARD, THOMAS GRANT, passed away on July 20, 2008 at the age of 84, in Ridgewood Lodge in Princeton, after a lengthy illness. Tom was born in Emerson, Manitoba on January 21, 1924 and was raised and educated in Manitoba. After serving in WW II, he returned to Canada, married Helen on April 12, 1948 in Melfort, Saskatchewan and began their family. They left Saskatchewan several years after getting married and settled in Princeton, and then in Greenwood for many years. Tom was a miner during his entire working career, working at Alemby Mine in Princeton, Phoenix Mine in Greenwood and Bethlehem Copper in Ashcroft . He retired early due to poor health at the age of fifty-nine in Princeton. In recent years, Tom attended the Princeton United Church and frequented the Princeton Seniors Centre. Tom was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents Grant and Lillian Sheppard, his three brothers: Allan, Bob and George, and one sister: Nellie Sheppard. He will be lovingly missed by his wife Helen, sons: Bill (Linda) Sheppard, Wes (Rachel) Sheppard, and Pat (Linda) Sheppard; and daughters: Susan (Joe) Gubbles and Sandra (Roy) Nixon; also seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service was held at the Greenwood United Church, Greenwood, BC at 1:00 p.m., Friday July 25, 2008 with burial following in Greenwood Cemetery.
