Waltraut was born in Pregelau East Prussia. Her family had the only grocery store and gas pump in town. Her family lived on a farm where they raised horses. Due to the war in 1944, the family fled their home with what belongings they could fit in a wagon along the Baltic coast while being mortared by the Russians. They landed in Pommern East Germany which had been taken over by the Russians and were forced to work on the farms.
Waltraut met and fell in love with Bodo's father in 1947, but unfortunately was unable to be with him due to escaping the Russians once again. Under Polish protection the family made their way to west Germany. Waltraut met and married Joseph Jennen in 1948 and bore 3 children; Hans Gerd, Karin & Dieter. Joseph passed away due to complications during surgery in 1960. Waltraut married Johann Rehfisch in 1964 and immigrated to Canada in may of 1968. Arriving in Vancouver B.C. where the family resided for 5 years before moving to Walhachin B.C. in 1973 to make a new home and raise the children. In 1996, Johann and Waltraut moved to Cache Creek B.C. where they became active Jehovah Witnesses. After Johann passed in 2009, Waltraut moved to Kamloops for a brief period. Due to Alzheimers, she resided with Bodo and Pat for 2 years before taking residence at Overland Residential Care in 2014 until her passing. The family is very grateful for the loving care she received while residing there. Waltraut loved people and thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, gardening and cooking.
