Kudos to Mavourneen Varcoe-Ryan! Her incredible performance as Shirley Valentine floored me. How could she memorize two hours of vivid, excruciatingly funny monologue with only one break in the middle? And she cooked a real chips and eggs dinner at the same time. We could smell the chips! I can’t imagine the hours of preparation she must have put into this clever, enjoyable production.
Congratulations to Barbara Roden, the multi-talented director, and all the other members of the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society who made this stunning show possible. The message was good, too.
