Hockey for a good cause

Ashcroft RCMP participated in the “Law Enforcement Charity Hockey Challenge” in Merritt this past weekend, with all proceeds donated to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. Teams came from Merritt (two teams), B.C. Conservation, the Merritt Fire Department, Prince George, Ashcroft, and Kamloops, while a group of players from other B.C. detachments formed a team they called “The Replacements”.

The Ashcroft results (all wins) were 8-1 against Merritt 1, 13-4 against The Replacements, 11-6 against Merritt 2, and 7-6 against Prince George. In the final, against Conservation they lost 8-4, coming in second overall in the tournament. A great time was had by all, for a great cause, with the tournament raising $18,000 for the foundation.

Lost control

In the early hours of February 26, a pick-up truck towing a utility trailer lost control near 16 Mile on Highway 97N. The vehicle rolled over and came to rest on its side. Three occupants were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Driver inexperience and weather/road conditions are considered factors in this crash.

If you have information on any police files or crimes, please contact the Ashcroft RCMP at (250) 453-2216, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
