The search and recovery efforts to find missing Cache Creek fire chief Clayton Cassidy, who disappeared in the early hours of May 5 while checking water levels around the village, will continue on Tuesday, May 9, but search and rescue personnel are being stood down for the day.
Instead, the search will be conducted on the ground by trained volunteers. At the open meeting of Cache Creek council on May 8, it was noted that 90 volunteers had continued the ground search on Monday, in addition to search and rescue swiftwater teams.
“Search and rescue has been stood down for now, as we need [the] water down,” says Ashcroft RCMP Sgt. Kat Thain. “But they are still in communication with us for anything found or a water change.”
