Communities in Bloom is about much more than flowers; and a few hours of your time would make a big difference.

PAC meetings date change

The regular Clinton Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings will now be held on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. All parents and/or caregivers of students in David Stoddart School are welcome to attend.

The next PAC meeting will be held on Thursday, February 23.

Free income tax preparation

Beginning on Thursday, March 2, and running until April 30, a free income tax clinic will be held in the Clinton Library from 2 to 4 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

Volunteers who are working in collaboration with the Canada Revenue Agency will be on hand to prepare income tax returns and benefit returns for eligible individuals. The objective is to assist eligible individuals who are not able to prepare their returns by themselves. This includes seniors, students, low income individuals and couples, and more.

The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is there to prepare and electronically file tax returns. For more information to see if you are eligible for help and/or to book an appointment, call or email one of the Clinton volunteers: Yvette May at 250-459-7725 or email ymay@bcwireless.com, or John White at 250-459-2680 or cell phone 250-377-5848, or email him at johfra@bcwireless.com.

Clinton CiB

The Clinton Communities in Bloom committee is looking for new members. They meet in the council chamber at noon on the first Wednesday of each month.

Because of the committee’s name, many people think that Communities in Bloom is all about flowers. That is only one small component of the program. When a community is evaluated there are a whole host of things being assessed, and not just flowers. These include the overall tidiness of the community, environmental action, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscapes, and floral displays. Community involvement is also looked for, along with each of the above categories. The overall idea is to help make your community better for everyone: residents, local business people, and visitors alike.

Anyone who wants more information is welcome to drop in to a meeting or two (no obligation) to see if this is something you would like to get involved in.

The next Clinton CiB meeting is scheduled for noon on March 1.
