Clinton Citizen of the Year

On Saturday, March 4 a wine and cheese reception will be held at the Clinton Memorial Hall to recognize the contributions of the many volunteers who help to make Clinton such a wonderful place to live. This is also when the 2016 Clinton Citizen of the Year will be announced and honoured.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event officially begins at 7 p.m.

Clinton Health Care Auxiliary

The Clinton Health Care Auxiliary meeting and AGM has been changed to Monday, March 6 at 1:30 pm at the Clinton Health Centre. More members are urgently needed if this organization is to continue.

Daffodil Tea

The Clinton Seniors Association will host the annual Daffodil Tea from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8 at the Clinton Memorial Hall.

As in past years there will be strawberry shortcake to enjoy, as well as a bake sale, door prize, and flowers if available. The winter weather has been playing havoc with the growers in the Fraser Valley, but it is hoped some flowers will be available by then.

Pre-orders will be taken by Zee Chevalier at (250) 459-0028, and take-out orders can be made beginning at 1 p.m. on March 8 for those businesses and residents who may be unable to attend in person. Call (250) 459-2254 for take-out orders.

Council meeting

The next regular meeting of the Village of Clinton council will be held on Wednesday, March 8 beginning at 7 p.m. in the council chambers. Members of the public are welcome to attend. There is a question period near the beginning of the meeting so residents can make comments and recommendations, or ask questions of any item on that evening’s agenda. This is to allow input prior to council making decisions on these items.

Spirit of Clinton committee

The Spirit of Clinton committee meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Clinton Memorial Hall. Meetings are usually brief (half-an-hour to an hour at most). This committee is comprised of representatives of the not-for-profit organizations in town. Each group is reminded to appoint a representative to this committee if you want your group to have reduced rates at village venues, advertising on village sites and signs, and allow all organizations to know when events or activities are planned so there is no conflict in venues, etc.

The next meeting of the Spirit of Clinton committee is scheduled for Thursday, March 9.
