Computer course
Anyone with an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch can learn the basics of using a device that runs Apple’s iOS operating system at a session at the Ashcroft Library on Saturday, February 25 from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. Participants will learn how to find, install, delete, and organize apps; discover how to connect to Wi-Fi and access other useful settings; learn about notifications, multitouch gestures, and useful apps; and much more. It is not necessary to own an Apple iOS device to take this class, but bring your device if you have one.

Financial Literacy series
The Ashcroft Library is hosting another in a series of financial literacy workshop, in conjunction with Interior Savings. “Why Filing Taxes in Canada is a Good Idea” takes place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, and the free workshop will examine how income taxes are used, why it makes sense to file your tax return even if you do not owe any money, what benefits are available to lower-income tax-filers, and much more. Project Chat
The popular program that allows crafters to bring their projects to the library and work on them in the company of other crafty people continues, every Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. It’s a wonderful social event, and the tea and coffee are always on.
CLINTON LIBRARY
Knitting group
Seasoned knitters, or those wanting to learn, can come to the Clinton Library every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Needles and yarn will be available for those just learning, and anyone who wants to help others learn is encouraged to come. Crafters working on any kind of portable project are also encouraged to just come along and chat as they work. Tea and coffee are provided.
SAVONA LIBRARY
Yarn and Yap
Similar to the Project Chat at Ashcroft, Yarn and Yap takes place at the Savona Library every Saturday until March 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring your current project and enjoy tea and a gab with fellow crafters as you work.
KAMLOOPS LIBRARY
The TNRD Library System is marking "Freedom to Read" week, which takes place from February 26 to March 4, with a Read-In at the Kamloops Library.
The annual event is organized by the Book and Periodical Council, and encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom. On Thursday, March 2 a Read-In will be held at the Kamloops Library from 3 to 6 p.m.Readers are urged to bring their favourite banned book, or borrow one from the library, and read for 15 minutes or more to show support for thos who fight for intellectual freedom. Readers who sign in will be entered in a prize draw.

“Appy Hour”
The first Tuesday of each month will see “Appy Hour” at the Kamloops Library: a fun and informative hour that will explore the newest practical apps for tablets, smartphones, and personal computers running Windows 10.
Tuesday, March 7 will feature an “Apps for Parents” session. Enjoy an evening at the library without the kids, to learn about some excellent apps to help manage a busy family life. On Tuesday, April 4 the session will be “Financial Apps”, with participants learning to manage daily banking and investments, track their spending, create a budget, and more.

Branch modernization
Over the first six months of 2017, the Kamloops Library is being modernized, at a cost of $350,000. The facility, which was built in 1988, has seen only modest improvements and maintenance projects since its construction, and is in need of a refresh to support public use and operations. A plan is being developed to minimize the impact the construction will have on staff and patrons.
