Thanks to all who helped us celebrate our 50th anniversary by joining us at the 50th annual Ashcroft Art Club Show and Sale. Your enthusiasm added to our joy, so thanks to all who made it such a happy occasion.

The People’s Choice award is one of the main events of the show. This year the adults’ favourite was “Whiskey” by Heidi Roy, and runner-up was “Circle W Hi Hium” by Laura Hedges.

One of our great joys is to share art with local children. Thanks to the teachers who not only bring the children, but prepare them for experiencing the show; and thanks to our club members, who help them all to enjoy their art experience.

The students’ vote for first place was “Arabian Princess” by Margot Landels, and the runner-up was “Making Suggestions” by Charlene Hodge.

We are looking forward to the Plein Air Paint-Out with the Winding Rivers Arts & Performance Society, from May 26 to 28, with a “wet paint” display of artists’ work to follow on Sunday.

Our club mission is to promote fine arts in Ashcroft and the surrounding area, and that the club is open to artists of all skill levels residing in our region. Our meetings resume Wednesday, September 6 at St. Alban’s Church hall. Keep in touch with our activities on our web site, www.ashcroftartclub.com, and on Facebook.
