The Ashcroft Art Walk has returned for another year.

Are you planning a staycation this year, or making note of a few local activities to do between out-of-town holidays, or planning what to do with visiting friends and family? There is an answer during July and August: the Ashcroft Art Walk 2016, sponsored by the Ashcroft Art Club.

There is something for everyone to enjoy, from abstract to representational art. There is artwork using oil, acrylic, watercolour, collage, or that perfect view caught with a camera. See small bronze-finished sculptures, and a huge lion shaped from found objects.

The subjects are many: from birds and blossoms, fruit and farms to portraits, puppies, and pastoral scenes. The artists’ creativity knows no bounds.

Angela has woven the various ideas together beautifully at the Sidewalk Gallery on Railway Avenue. The participating artists have samples of their work there, noting the location where their art can be found for viewing or sale; or you can follow the numbered footprints from the brochure and map to see it all. I have heard of friends meeting weekly for a different coffee and art experience.

However you choose to do it, have a wonderful walk through local art and a wonderful summer. Thanks to all the artists and merchant sponsors for making it all possible.

Brochures listing the various artists and the location of their work are available from the participating businesses (most of the establishments on Railway, as well as Quality Glass, the River Inn, and the Ashcroft Bakery), and also from the Visitor Information Centre at the Heritage Park.

Those who are artistic are invited to join the Art Club when our meetings resume on September 7. Check us out at our website at www.ashcroftartclub.com.
