Cache Creek softball teams enjoying early season successes

Two teams took gold at recent tournament in Merritt

Cache Creek Minor Softball is well into the swing of the new season. In addition to regular practices at the Ashcroft Indian Band ball fields, teams have been travelling to tournaments, where they are showing that practice pays off.

Five teams took part in a multi-division tournament in Merritt over the weekend of May 27, where the Cache Creek U15 Boys’ Chaos team and the Cache Creek U11 Hustlers went undefeated all weekend, taking home the gold in both divisions.

The U13 team came up short 7-6 in a nail-biter on May 28, while two of the associations’s U9 teams battled hard throughout the tournament, and are proving to be quite competitive already.

On the weekend of June 3, the boys’ U15 Chaos team battled hard and placed second out of 12 teams in the Spring Classic Tournament in Vernon.

“We are having a great season, and it would be so nice to let the community know how great it’s going!” says Ashlene Minnabarriet, president of the Cache Creek Softball Association.

“Thank you to all the coaches, managers, dedicated parents, and amazing fans,” continues Minnabarriet. “Our association is lucky to have you.

“Merritt Minor Softball, thank you for hosting a fantastic tournament that allowed our families to enjoy watching their children in multiple divisions. Great job! We will be back next year.”
