The annual general meeting of the Ashcroft-Cache Creek Seniors’ Centre was held on May 18 at 1 p.m. The meeting opened with the singing of “O Canada”, and 16 members were in attendance.

President Murial Scallon brought the meeting to order, and secretary Donna Tetrault and treasurer Linda Holland gave their reports. There were also reports on the kitchen bingo, bridge, carpet bowling, crafts, the hospital, the sunshine committee, and public relations.

The elected officers for 2017–18 are Muriel Scallon (president); Joyce Freeman (vice president); Isobel McGrath (second vice president); Donna Tetrault (secretary); and Linda Holland (treasurer). The directors are Pat Kilt, Harold Nichols, Kevin Scallon, and Irma Schalles.

Dorothy Maximiw donated a surprise: a beautiful birthday cake for Muriel. We all sang “Happy Birthday”, with many thanks for her years as president.

Our next meeting will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 15 at the centre at 601 Bancroft Street in Ashcroft. It will be preceded by a potluck lunch at noon, and all area seniors are welcome to attend. The centre will be closed from July 1 to August 30 2017.
