On December 2, the Thompson-Nicola Shotokan Karate Club had three athletes compete in the Karate BC Provincial Championships at the Richmond Olympic Oval. Colby Arnett placed third in both kata (forms) and kumite (sparring), while Kaeli Duchaine-Rodrigue and Maddy Gavaga placing fifth in both kata and kumite. The event was live-streamed (http://sportscanada.tv/karatebc).

Athletes had to compete at the Karate BC Zone 2 Tournament in order to qualify for the provincials. The Zone 2 tournament was held on November 4, and at that tournament Colby received Gold in both kata and kumite; Kaeli received Silver in kata and Gold in kumite; and Maddy received Bronze in kata and Silver in Kumite.
