Arrangements are being made to start a community handbell program in our area that will run the months of September through December.
As readers may have seen, handbell choirs wear white gloves and play songs together using pitched brass bells. Each member responsible for two or more notes in the music.
Plans are in place for two groups, one for children and one for youth/adults. Experience reading music is recommended. Due to the weight of the bells, it is recommended that children be at least nine years of age.
Practices will be held weekly beginning in September, and with hard work ringers will play at a Community Christmas Concert next December. For more information please call Carmen Ranta at 250-457-9119.
